Family Law Paralegal
Job Description
Talis Group’s client is a well-established and highly respected east end law firm, with a collaborative team environment. The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing support services including answering phones, document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation. Other duties will be in an effort to assist management of the office operational needs such as, ordering office supplies, managing conference room schedules and in office client meetings, or other operational needs. This position is on-site. Paid time off, health insurance reimbursement, life insurance and 401k matching available.
Highlighted Duties:
- Assist with screening of prospective clients and gathering intake information at new client meetings.
- Responsible for opening cases for new clients and working case until final phase.
- Effectively handle a family law case from the initial retention through conclusion.
- Drafting and preparing all required pleadings, correspondence, and other documents for family law cases, including Dissolution of marriage; paternity; post-judgment actions (modification, contempt, enforcement); domestic violence injunctions; relocations; and all other family law related
- pleadings.
Extensive preparation of Financial Affidavits, Mandatory Disclosures, and all other discovery requests and responses. - Trial preparation.
- Preparation of family law calculations.
- Coordination of hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and other proceedings.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy needed to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to reassure and calm clients while explaining the process to them.
- An understanding of child support guidelines, and spousal support guidelines.
