Job Description
Talis Group’s client is a globally expanding manufacturer with primary processes in steel fabrication for a variety of industries. They are seeking a detail-oriented HR Assistant to support both HR and Operations at their Shelbyville, KY facility. This role will play a key role in supporting daily HR operations by coordinating new hire onboarding, training & compliance tracking, & temporary staffing coordination. This position ensures accurate documentation, supports orientation & day-one logistics, & provides admin support for HR programs.
This is a long-term temporary opportunity ideal for someone with prior HR experience in office or manufacturing environment. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Hourly pay is $23-$27/hour.
Highlighted Duties:
- Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation, including scheduling, documentation, and day-one logistics.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for new hires to ensure a smooth and positive onboarding experience.
- Track and follow up on training, certifications, and compliance requirements to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain accurate training records, schedules, and participation tracking.
- Support performance review and skill-based qualification tracking processes.
- Act as the day-to-day liaison with temporary staffing agencies, coordinating starts, documentation, and updates.
- Review and submit temporary employee timecards; resolve discrepancies and verify agency invoices.
- Maintain accurate, confidential HR files and perform consistent HR data entry and reporting.
- Generate routine HR reports related to onboarding, headcount, training, and timekeeping.
- Provide administrative support for HR programs, employee relations, and engagement activities.
- Assist with HR communications, meetings, and general office support as needed.
Highlighted Requirements:
- 1–3 years of experience in HR, training coordination, staffing coordination, or administrative support (manufacturing/plant preferred).
- Experience coordinating onboarding or training; staffing agency coordination a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or HR coursework preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and HRIS/timekeeping systems (ADP and Saba a plus).
- Strong communication skills with a service-oriented, confidential, and detail-focused approach.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working in an office environment with routine plant floor interaction.
- Able to sit, stand, walk as needed and lift up to 10 lbs.
- Spanish fluency a plus; flexible to occasionally adjust hours for orientations or training events.
