Legal Bookkeeper/ Full-Charge Accountant
Talis Group’s client, a well-established Louisville-based law firm, is seeking a Full-Charge Legal Bookkeeper to manage the firm’s day-to-day financial operations. Position is available due to growth. This role will oversee Accounts Payable, billing, account reconciliations, and escrow/IOLTA trust accounts. The ideal candidate will bring strong bookkeeping experience, attention to detail, & the ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional office setting. The firm offers a collaborative environment & excellent work-life balance with hours of 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am-12:00 on Fridays. They also offer generous benefits, with the firm paying 80% of Health for Individual and Family; also offers Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, 4 weeks of PTO after the 1st year and 14 paid holidays annually. Salary range is $55-$65k (based on experience.)
Highlighted Duties:
- Manage all aspects of bookkeeping, including Accounts Payable, client billing, general ledger postings, and monthly reconciliations.
- Maintain & reconcile multiple escrow/IOLTA accounts in compliance with legal regulations (experience preferred, not required.)
- Process client invoices & payments using QuickBooks and legal billing software.
- Prepare month-end financials & assist with year-end reporting for external accountants.
- Monitor cash flow, maintain accurate financial records, & ensure timely vendor payments.
- Provide financial support & reporting to firm leadership.
- Other duties assisting Accounting Manager as needed.
Highlighted Requirements:
- Legal industry bookkeeping experience is a preferred.
- Experience with escrow/IOLTA account maintenance strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook.)
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with attorneys, clients, and vendors.
